Leigh has worked as an actress, writer, and teacher in the theatre for over twenty-five years. Her most recent play, DESERT WOLF was developed at the Interact Theatre Company's Playwrights Lab in North Hollywood, California and presented as part of that company's annual Interactivity Festival last spring. DESERT WOLF is currently under consideration at Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago and the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble in Los Angeles. Leigh's murder mystery AMARA, and her one-act, SOMETHING REALLY BIG were part of Interactivity '95. AMARA was a semi-finalist for the Julie Harris Playwrighting Competition of the Beverly Hills Theatre Guild and a finalist at the Dayton Playhouse 1996 Futurefest where it was awarded the Dayton Playhouse Blackburn Award of Excellence. Also produced at the Interact Theatre Company was WESTERN SONG, a one-act play Leigh has developed into a full-length screenplay.
THEY DANCE TO THE SUN, the first play in a trilogy, was produced at Cincinnati's Playhouse in the Park, listed in Theatre Communications Group Play Source and nominated for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. AMONG THE SHADOWS HAUNTING, the second piece was short-listed for the O'Neill Playwright's Conference and the Royal Theatre Exchange in London. In Manhattan, the trilogy was workshopped at the Apple Corps Theatre which also produced her musical for junior and senior high school audiences, MY LORD WHAT A MORNING. Leigh had the distinct privilege of interviewing Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross for her one-act WINDSTORM. WINDSTORM was produced at the Ventura Court Theatre in Studio City, California, and will be presented as part of Women in Theatre's Women's History Month Celebration at the Toluca Lake Players in Los Angeles this March. Leigh has developed and written the screenplay, bible and television pilots for HIGH VOLTAGE and GROUP THERAPY, and has penned several original screenplays including...MY SOUL TO TAKE, ACT OF GRACE, and ICE DREAMS.
